“Cruel World” dancing with my hands and imagination in hotel room on a rainy afternoon in Bali - Video

Another rainy day in Bali has me playing inside. I set up the camera, blast one of the songs I wrote long ago, and dance with these hands that pretend their playing instruments. I especially love the little popping sensations my hands and wrists make on the snare, snap or clap sounds. Singing along to songs I wrote feels like wearing custom clothing. Other people’s music transports me to new places. Music that arrived in this world through me transport me back into my own energy. It saves me from dark moments, pulling me back to the surface and light. Video has always been a fun toy, a tool, a friend to interact with when I’m alone. It’s fun to share these little video music moments with you. I get to play on my own and then use the thing I created to connect with other humans out there in the world.

I wrote this song “Cruel World” at the beginning of the pandemic. There is a light and darkness in us that is fun to play with once we get past fear of the unknown. We have space within us to hold all of it.
