Drum Challenge: How long can you play with consistency - Video

Over the last few years I have transitioned from a touring drummer to a full time session drummer and mastering engineer.

With that change has come a HUGE shift in my practising (for one I am actually practising hahahaha). I've noticed many details I never did before sitting on the mixing side of things, it's helped me become a better musician (notice I didn't say drummer).

The Challenge is to play to a click minimum 3 minutes, record your playing and listen to how consistent your sound is. Is that snare even on all hits?

Imagine when drummers had to perfectly execute a song in one take (before editing software).

There's a magic to one take, if you can play the song with variations on 3 takes, your a pro, and your gonna get called for more work. If you can't play the song in 3 takes with a flow, no amount of chops will save you.

The key to session work is playing and not even hearing the click. Make that click your lover!
