Hokyoji Sunday Morning Dharma Talk - August 8, 2021 - Paul Shippee - "How Does it Feel?"
Paul Shippee, MA Psychology, has been teaching and facilitating NVC practice groups continuously for 14 years, after intensive training with NVC founder, Marshall Rosenberg, PhD and other NVC trainers, in addition to study with Native American teachers and yoga masters. As a life-long Buddhist meditator, Paul discovered a striking and useful link between the Buddhist practice of meditation and the NVC practice of how to uncover and give voice to feelings and needs.
Paul has also presented these teachings via many classes and training workshops locally, at Shambhala/Buddhist centers around the country, in Europe, and more recently to the inmate population at the state prison correctional complex in Buena Vista, Colorado.
Paul’s principal close buddhist teachers are the Zen master, Shunryu Suzuki Roshi, founder of the San Francisco Zen Center and the Tibetan meditation master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, founder of Naropa University and Shambhala Training and a wide display of cultural arts and the roots of sanity in North America and Europe.
Paul’s main focus and purpose in presenting Nonviolent Communication (aka Compassionate Communication) trainings and meditation is to help others awaken to their true nature, reduce suffering, and enjoy relational depth, richness and sanity.
Please join Hokyoji Sunday mornings at 9 am on Zoom for talks and discussion featuring guest speakers from the Zen Buddhist community. All are welcome! https://www.hokyoji.org/sunday-talks/
