Speaking of Iron Age and early Medieval human sacrifices in the Nordic World, as well as the ritualization of violence, and how historiography and cinematography portrays these subjects.
I would like to suggest two videos I've done on the case of bodily destruction and sacrifice as a form of transformation that provokes a beneficial effect, and radical change, in the life of the community of the living. Two mythological subjects that might shed light into the religious mentality of pre-Christian Nordic peoples in relation to human sacrifice:

(2) Ymir - The Scream of Life:

In case you are wondering about the Thumbnail, the picture behind the female figure is part of the Stora Hammars I stone, located in Stora Hammars, Lärbro parish, Gotland, Sweden dating from around the 7th century CE, depicting a man lying on his belly in an act that seems to be of a religious sacrifice. The female figure from the Thumbnail isn't real. I've created her in Photoshop. Hope she finds me though.
