Because you can still use them for an ingenious trick when barbecuing. You'll also need some wood shavings. The first step is to fill these into the individual cavities of the egg carton.

In the next step, gather together all possible candle scraps and melt them in a pan or bowl. Now pour a little of the wax into each compartment. In the end, the wood shavings should be really well set.

As soon as it has dried, you can carefully tear off the individual small hollows and use them as firelighters. This works wonderfully on the barbecue, for a campfire or even for the fireplace or stove in your home.

Instead of throwing all these things in the bin, you can still use them and save some money on firelighters. So why not give this ingenious trick a try in your own home?
