Coastal Ocean, Monsoon & Crop-Climate: Issues & Prospects | Prof. Pratap K. Mohanty | TEDxIISERBPR - Video

Major challenges in coastal ocean studies are bathymetry observation, morphodynamic modelling and longshore transport computation. To overcome these challenges, advanced data assimilation techniques and Google Earth can be used, allowing rapid assessment of a wide range of measurements in coastal oceanography. Resolving intraseasonal dynamic and thermodynamic forcings of the ocean to monsoon active break cycle is the key to develop an accurate crop-climate model and to help in sustainable agricultural development. A veteran marine scientist and OSD-cum-Vice Chancellor of Dharanidhar University, Prof. Mohanty is renowned for his contributions to monsoon studies and climate change research. His impactful work is supported by over 130 publications and a Commonwealth Fellowship. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
