Climate change is hitting our oceans harder than you may think, and we are about to show you how these incredible ocean heroines are fighting back! Two young female scientists are working at the outer ends of the ocean's food chain to keep the earth's biggest ecosystem alive. At the top is the Great White shark. On the other end of the food chain, at its very base, are phytoplankton producing our atmosphere's oxygen supply. Understanding their reaction to ocean warming and ocean acidification is key to understand and predict climate change. Humpback whales can swim thousands of miles per day and use ancient knowledge to navigate via the celestial bodies. Still, they are as threatened by climate change as the colourful and immobile corals. A possible solution for saving our ocean's reefs may live thousands of meters below the arctic sea ice.
